Jon and Kate Plus Eight has become nothing but one big infomercial. The couple’s wedding vow renewal was no exception.
This episode, “For Better or Worse”, featured 60 minutes of all the Grand Wailea Resort Hotel and Spa in Hawaii had to offer … from the spa (yes the 4-year-old girls got pedicures), the hair salon, the chapel, the catering services, the lawn overlooking the ocean. TLC could have just shown a video of the premises, and I wouldn’t have had the added annoyance of enduring Jon and Kate. (They did renew their vows, by the way, in between resort glamour shots.)

I’m going to assume that you’ve heard about the Yearn For Zion Ranch polygamist sect.
Now, I do not want to make light of this situation. My heart breaks for the 416 children involved. I can’t even begin to allow myself to think about what they have seen, and what will potentially haunt them for years.
With that said, I tend to use humor and sarcasm as a release — so here I go!
Let me set the scene for you — a San Angelo, Texas courthouse. On today’s docket — what to do with the 416 children from the ranch. In the galley sits the children’s “nearly 200 mothers and dozens of fathers.” That’s right — notice the discrepancy between the moms and dads.
Then I caught a clip of a “day in the life” segment about two Utah sisters married to the same man! A third wife is in the picture — as are their combined 21 children. How well do you think this man would deal with two additional husbands? Would he be cool with the “every third day” schedule? (Oh yes, every third day a new wife gets intimate with the singular husband).
Oh my word! I quickly looked over to my husband, as if to say “does that appeal to you?” Without asking, he responded with “Isn’t one wife enough?! That is insane”
My thoughts exactly.
I’m not going to get into the religious aspect of this lifestyle, personally because I think it’s crap. Or maybe just a page out of “convenient theories for you.” Is the need to spread the seed that fierce that one has to gobble up as many fertile women as possible? Is this a mommy-issue? Whatever you call it, I say greedy, greedy, greedy.
