The Changeling

Posted June 18, 2008 at 11:36 am by Tracy

So, we are in! The house is awesome, and I’m going to put an endless amount of pictures on my regular blog once I uh, find my digital camera. We still have 85% of our stuff to unpack, and per usual I am procrastinating. Remind me never to move, ever.

My daughter is handling the move well. She’s into the pool and loves swimming, she digs crawling on the grass and tapping sticks together for impromptu drumming. The dining room is sans furniture currently because we are apartment dwellers not accustomed to shit tons of space and she speed-crawls on the hardwood floors playing peek-a-boo behind the hideous curtains that haven’t been taken down yet. But all this aside, she has stopped napping.
Not 100% completely of course, since we got her to nap in the car on the way home from Homegoods, but other than that trying to get her to sleep in her pack and play, or our bed is a big huge happening AINT. She screams like we are murdering her, and I’m not the most patient person when it comes to irrational screaming and thrusting about. If she doesn’t nap, she is a grump, and when she’s a grump, she isn’t much fun. This morning she woke up extra extra early so due to exhaustion fell asleep but when the babysitter [aka my friend, who's an enormous help] rang the doorbell the dogs barking woke her up. Will she take a long afternoon nap? Probably not. Will I try? If I want to keep my sanity, no.

Maybe it’s just that refusing naps stage, where she would rather crawl around and demand 100% of my attention ALL day, or maybe she just swallowed some speed, we will never know. But really, really just watching her makes ME tired, so how is she not passing out mid-crawl?

Okay, I lie. I’ve BEEN back but we are getting ready to relocate so I’ve been busy pretending to pack

Things that suck about moving with an infant:

Everything.

Things that don’t suck:

Finding a $25 gift card to Barnes and Noble under the bed!

Seriously though, lets talk about my current dilemma which is spring clothing. Post baby I do NOT enjoy clothes shopping because everything fits so strangely. Huge boobs that don’t fit into cute tank tops: check. Flabby stomach that, when paired up with a tunic top makes you look four months pregnant: Double check. I wish I could just wear cute nightgowns like the ones Anthropologie has all day long [oh and I wish I were rich enough to buy all of them...send me money?]

Momma’s: where do you shop. What clothes flatter a post-pregnancy body, and lastly: how good is Starbucks Java chip ice cream on a hot summer afternoon?

…more later, I’m totally going to get one now!

Oh and PS for those that were dying to know: Yes my honeymoon was lovely. We slept & ate carbs like it’s nobodies business.  We got wild in the hot tub for all of ten minutes until I decided it was “far too hot and making me sleepy…” we went hiking until we were out of breath [twenty minutes], and I called and checked on Paige 3x per day and referenced her about 175x per day. The second we were home I was sighing and slightly aggravated. Ahh motherhood!
