More about Cin:

I am a married mother of two interesting and active children. My kids are 9 and 13 but we only adopted them five years ago so they are still babies to me! They've been through a lot so we've spoiled them a lot to compensate and we are paying the price now! LOL! And by "we", you know I mean "I". I have always wanted to be a writer and since this economy has cooled my real estate career I have been gifted the opportunity to give writing a try. I've been building blogs and freelance writing and am thrilled at the opportunity to share my "imperfection" here, as well as be given an excuse to bone up on my favorite shows!

GLEE is for Me!

Posted May 25, 2009 at 11:47 pm by Cin

Okay I am officially over the burning of my Rack of Lamb last week.  You may think I’ve been obsessed with AMERICAN IDOL since it is all I’ve written about lately.  Not true.  I have MOTHER’S DAY issues.  And although I ordinarily function better in my blogging life than real life, the weeks surrounding Mother’s Day, which falls the same week as Ma’s birthday, are the opposite.  In the real world my Daughter spoils me ridiculously and it is awesome.  She gives me the energy, and genuine joy, to keep smiling and give the impression to those around me that all is well.  But when I sit down to write, my laptop knows the truth and as I stare at the monitor and try to type something chipper, it stares right back and calls me a liar.  Sooooo I just don’t write much until I get past the funk.  This year what brought me out of the dark was “Glee“.

Having not watched much over the last couple of weeks but IDOL and DANE COOK, I finally watched “Glee” on DVR.  I can sum it up in 13 words:  “Fame” meets “American Pie” meets “Rent” meets “Boston Public” meets “Hairspray” meets “Carrie”.  Sounds good, right?

American Homophobia Season 8 Finale: the Most Fun Ever Had with Intolerance

Posted May 20, 2009 at 10:38 pm by Cin

You know how you suspect something wrong but you don’t want to believe that such a thing could really happen?  I suspected that fear would push the voters away from Adam Lambert back in April when I wrote this post at my family blog.  Please check it out to see what I mean.  But suspecting it and preparing myself for the disappointment of my favorite contestant losing did not prepare me for the injustice.  A loss to Danny Gokey or Allison would have been understandable.  But a loss to Kris Allen is inexcusable.  Less a tribute to Kris’ performances and more an example of hatred and intolerance, never before has the flaw in the American Idol voting system been so obvious.

I often hear people saying, “American Idol is fixed.”  I don’t believe that for a minute.  The votes are counted properly.  But there is no way that the votes are cast SINCERELY. Here is where the integrity of the show is lost.  And where the truly invested viewers are duped.

Now for my Imperfect & Impolite American Idol Review

Posted May 20, 2009 at 10:36 am by Cin

The last few weeks on Idol have been stupid. AlthoughKris seems to be a really sweet kid and I did enjoy his joy, ( I have said before, I am a junkie for the happiness and dream reaching factor here)  Danny is a more exciting and more talented performer.  Before that, Allison should not have left.  And if I wanted to be a real brat, Kris should have left before Matt G.

Obviously I haven’t been the only one miffed.. did anyone comment here after Danny left? I wasn’t being pouting because my choice for the spot did not win.  I simply had nothing good to say. I immediately started seeing these crazy mean K fans popping up saying vicious, hateful things about Adam.  It was too much negativity for me.  Fun’s fun, but closed minded bigotry is for assholes.

It IS A Mad World On American Idol

Posted May 19, 2009 at 8:16 pm by Cin

I am so glad that Adam Lambert started with “Mad World” tonight because I was one of the many frustrated ones who suffered the dvr timing blues the week he sang it.  “Ain’t No Sunshine” was the first performance by Kris that got my attention.  I thought he sang it better the first time around and I would have called round one a win for Adam, but Simon gave it to Kris.  I was totally confused by Simon’s remark that Adam was too theatrical considering it was one of his least thatrical performances and Simon always defends Adam’s theatrics.  Simon is usually right on point, though, so we will see…

“A Change is Gonna Come”.  Wow.  Who’da thought?  That was completely different for him and I don’t recall hearing that bluesy tone from him before.  Yet another dimension.

The Girls Next Door are Moving On Out

Posted April 8, 2009 at 12:12 pm by Cin

I remember it like it was yesterday, the day that Bridget, Holly, and Kendra moved into OUR house.  <sigh> It was one evening a couple of years ago, shortly after Hubs put a television in our bedroom, something I had resisted for years.  But what does a down in the dumps guy who is bored, worried, and laid off do?  Buy a television, naturally.  That was the year of our reality tv overdose.  I pulled the blankets over my head every night as he went comatose with such programming as Gene Simmons, motorcycle builders, house flippers, ride pimpers, and CNN.  When I woke up one night to find big booby blondes bouncing across the screen, I was done.
