UPDATE: Now that the “holiday” has passed, it’s probably only fair to warn wayward Googlers that the below was made up as an April Fools prank, and we are not aware of any trouble with Jon & Kate Gosselin’s marriage.
Jon Gosselin, who stars in reality TV show Jon & Kate Plus 8, has announced he has filed for divorce from his wife, Kate Gosselin. In a prepared statement, Jon said that Kate’s ever growing obsession with fame and fortune from the show, which documents their day-to-day lives raising 8 children, has taken a heavy toll on their marriage.
“We were shopping for a Natuzzi leather couch for the new set for Season 5, and when Kate freaked out when she found out that the style she liked only came in espresso brown and not bittersweet chocolate brown, that’s when it hit me — I’m not just over Jon & Kate the TV show, I’m over being Jon & Kate, period.”
The news comes as a surprise after a previous statement said that their marriage was fine, and gossip website TMZ caught them canoodling sans kids at the popular Beverly Hills restaurant, Mr. Chow.
As for the kids, Gosselin states that he will retain full custody of the children, which Kate fully supports. “She told me that Angelina and Madonna seem to get more attention by adopting children, so she wants to try that now, and since the tups are older and not as ‘camera friendly’ any more, she thought it best if I take them.”
Kate declined to comment, stating that she would only discuss it with Oprah or a paid, exclusive interview with People magazine, whichever comes first.
