Jon & Kate: The Big Announcement

Posted March 23, 2009 at 12:42 pm by Prescott

This post is regarding the Season 4 finale. Read about the recent announcement of the Jon and Kate divorce here.

UPDATE: The judges have spoken and ruled that comment number 12 left by “Jennifer” was the first closest response when she said “I think they are going to talk about adjusting to the ‘fame’ and the increase in income. How its affecting their lives.” I think we can all agree that’s pretty accurate! Congrats, Jennifer! We’ll be contacting you via email.

In last week’s teaser for tonight’s fourth season finale of TLC’s mega-hit Jon and Kate Plus Eight, the network revealed crafty editing a thought out publicity stunt a heartfelt moment in Jon and Kate’s usual couch interchange, the tone of which led to speculation throughout the blogosphere with theories ranging anywhere from Kate taking out a hit on Octomom, to Jon’s scalp rejecting his hair plugs, to the return of Kate’s “butt in the front.” TLC is hyping the episode as the MOST SURPRISING JON & KATE YOU’VE EVER SEEN SINCE LAST WEEK!

Well, certainly not ones to shy away from a bit of Jon and Kate hoopla, we decided to have a little fun with it. Tell us in the comments below what “shocking” new information will be revealed during the “couch sessions” in tonight’s finale — the first person with the closest correct answer will receive the Jon and Kate Plus 8: Seasons 1 & 2 DVD set. Obviously you need to have your answer in before the show starts at 8:00 p.m. CST tonight. We’ll contact the winner by email, so make sure to leave a valid one in the email field with your comment. [IP Lawyer: winner will be chosen at our sole discretion.]

Also join me later when I’ll be live blogging the finale.

Last nights episode, I expected to hear they would try to work on their marriage with counseling or such. But I just got this feeling that Jon has already moved on. So sad, I felt bad for Kate. I just got that motion that Jon wants to put all blame on Kate and move on with his life.

LOL. No offense Jennifer, but feeling sorry for Kate is EXACTLY what TLC wanted you to do! It helps boost the ratings. People will continue watching now to see how poor, lonely, misunderstood, cheated on, dumped KATE handles the weekly grind all alone!

Ahhhhh, yes, poor Kate and I think TLC has figured (or at least they think they have) out a way to keep this train wreck at the front of
their lineup.

Why wouldnt Jon want to blame Kate? Who else IS there to blame?
God knows she didnt do anything to keep her marriage happy and healthy UNTIL Jon grew a pair and decided, as he said last night. to stand on his own two feet and finally stand up to her incessant bitching. Then Kate decides maybe shes gone too far and tearfully and pathetically dabs at her eyes and indicates that now she’ll be all alone. Maybe she should have listened when other people told her that she was going too far.

Jon made mistakes and shouldnt have cheated, if he did, but in the grand scheme of things, Kate is definitely no angel.

I agree with you Mully. The execs have TLC have put in a lot of hours around the boardroom table trying to come up with a way to spin this show so that the viewers continue to watch. Kate is presenting herself as the poor little dumped-on wife who is left with eight little mouths to feed while the man she married and vowed to stay with forever is out getting a NYC apartment, new cars, and dating younger women. She set the stage for future shows when she said that she doesn’t want to do this alone — enter Steve stage left. Good ol’ Steve mysteriously disappeared the past couple of weeks and now he can make a reappearance on his white horse to save the fair maiden from her life of loneliness. Oh happy day. I cannot believe that anyone is buying Kate’s tears. Jodi and Kevin said that she started the ball rolling months ago. It sounds like Jon has finally woken up and had enough of Kate’s abuse. He, of course, isn’t innocent in all of this, but Kate has been the instigator. I would have thought that they would have announced that they are ending the show to work on family, but apparently they BOTH want that money (and freebies) to keep rolling in. It’s a sad situation. I imagine Kate is spending a lot of time at the spa to get her through this terrible ordeal - after all, she spent half a day crying about it.

As a woman I totally feel for kate. That crap that Jon said about not wanting to fight in front of the kids is just a cop out! If he really cared about what his kids thought then he should have stuck it out and tried to get some counseling. He is just showing his children a real immature way to handle a problem. Marriage is not something to be taken likely, that is the problem with people nowadays. It is too sad I don’t understand it. Those poor chlidren.

My husband was shocked last night when he walked into the bedroom and found me watching “poor, poor Kate” dabbing at the imaginary tears. He said “I thought you vowed never to watch this show again!!!”. So I explained what was going on. He sat on the bed and watched with me and before I knew it he was talking back to her telling her she was a selfish bitch etc. It was a hoot!!! He was really getting irritated and I told him to watch his blood pressure.

All in all I expected Kate to blame everything on Jon. After all she always has. Nothing, nothing has ever been Kate’s fault. She has always been the innocent by-stander. I wondered how many of you picked up on her statement that “she didn’t want to go through this by herself”…Hmmmmmmm wonder what that means? I’m sure TLC has been working overtime trying to add a new twist to this show. This so-called “Reality Show”…Reality my foot!!!

But lets not forget the kids, please…I hope that they are being seen by a professional. I don’t give a rats rump what happens to Jon & Kate, really I don’t. But these 8 innocent lives are going to be affected forever by all of this. I really hope that some of the old friends will let by-gones be by-gones and step up to befriend the children for the sake of the children again. They need some sort of “constant” in their little lives. Someone who will always be there and not betray them…I really wish I was their grandmother. There is always room for 1 or even 8 more in my life. But I truly will keep the kids in my prayers and hopefully everyone else will too…They need some special Guardian Angles, espically now.

Jennifer, Kate deserves most of the blame. I’m not falling her her sob story and neither should you. She pushes everyone away from her and now that includes her husband. Didn’t surprise me one bit.

Jon actually did blame himself. Kate is trying to portray the victim. She is far from the victim. The kids are actually the victims.

In case you didn’t hear, Kate is the one who pushed for the separation. She didn’t like the fact that Jon finally stood up to her. She has pushed all family and friends to the curb so now she is totally alone. I don’t feel for Kate one little bit. I don’t feel for Jon either. They are both putting themselves before the children.
As a mother, I feel for the kids and the kids alone.

AMEN!

Jon did say that the house belongs to the kids. He said, “this is THEIR house.” Wouldn’t it be a hoot if Jon & Kate got hauled off to jail for fraud and the kids invited Jodi & Kevin to come live in “their” house? Jon did say the house belongs to the kids. So, if they are “on vacation,” why shouldn’t the kids be able to invite whomever they want into their house?

Those kids have been through enough. I really hope their parents don’t get hauled away in a striped jumpsuit because that would just be too much for those kids to handle now and going forward.

I’m not buying Kate’s crocodile tears either. She should have thought about having to “do it all by herself” before she kicked Jon in the macadamias every time he opened his mouth! I’m glad he stood up to her, finally. Unfortunately, it’s just too little too late.

But I do think it would be pretty interesting to have the kids invite Jodi & Kevin to live with them in “their” house.

I kept noticing as I watched last night’s episode that both Jon and Kate emphasized that it was for their children that they were breaking up. Their assumption seemed to be that the health of their marriage had nothing to do with the well-being of their children. I was always taught that the priority should be the spouse first, because healthy children naturally flow from healthy marital relationships.

jennifer,

i also felt bad for kate. i understand she has her flaws, but BOTH jon and kate were in that marriage. maybe jon should have “grown a pair” 10 years ago! he didnt! thats his own fault for letting kate walk all over him. they both have 8 children together, and they are both to blame. thats just my opinion, but i know no one here will agree with it.

Happy Sunday!

I bought the two latest tabloids with Kate/Hailey on the front. I never buy that stuff, but I couldn’t resist.

Jon & Kate Gosselin should be thoroughly ashamed of their behavior - Jon acting like a spoiled little kid. Kate, well, just being Kate screaming at everybody, etc.

I feel SO SORRY for those kids after reading the accounts in both tabloids. I hope Jon & Kate listen to what the shrinks are saying in these articles.

Even the TLC said how uncomfortable their photo shoot was with the tension between the two.

One thing keeps popping to mind…remember when Kate had her tummy tuck and how enamored Mrs. Glassman was with her? Kind of like a new BFF…wanting to have more girls’ weekends, etc? I wonder how she feels about Kate now?

My heart just breaks for the children. How happy can they be working on a set instead of being able to play? That makes me think of something else…with all that land they have now AND not to mention, the pool, have you noticed that we haven’t seen any photos of the kids in the pool swimming? Every photo we see of them, they are standing around Kate with a sippy cup! They are so emotionally and psychologically screwed up it’s not even funny!

Any thoughts?

I wonder if Hannah will lose her “Golden Child” status after her comment about “Daddy knows everything about a tent!”

I was glad to see the kids in the pool. It’s kind of sad, but not unexpected, that the kids still use their floaties. It’s that security thing, just like the training wheels.

So, Carla’s daughter is the summer helper now. What happened to the not-a-nanny they had?

I loved Aiden looking at the camera and asking them to watch him shiver. He is just so darned cute!!!!!

Look at the picture of those adorable kids. You can really see the Korean in the kids even though they are only a quarter Korean. Thats right if you didnt know Jon is half Korean.
