Amazon, feeding our children to the lions

Posted January 11, 2009 at 9:49 pm by

It seems that Amazon.com has taken a position on pro-pedophilia literature and that would be — their money is just as green as anybody else.

When it comes to selling pro-pedophile, child erotica and child exploitative books and DVDs, Amazon.com is the place to whip out your Mastercard and revel in all the free speech child molesters can muster. Brought to my attention by the folks at care2.com, Amazon has continued to hide behind a shameful “free speech” and anti-censorship “principle” in order to sell books that doing nothing short of supporting incest and crimes against children.

As small protests weren’t enough, the continued efforts of child advocates have forced Amazon to slowly, if not reluctantly, take baby steps to make these items unavailable. Several of these books, although still featured on their site are unavailable for purchase.

From my understanding, Amazon.com has been selling books that promote adult-child sex for years and have responded rather arrogantly to the letters and emails of angry parents and good Samaritans.

So, if you find it impossible to protest Amazon.com because of the lure of free shipping and the prospect of all-in-one shopping, please take the time to send them an email about their willingness to promote child abuse as acceptable behavior.

Some examples of books that are available and some recently made unavailable to the dismay of Amazon.com:

Daddy’s Little boy – a book about a child who enjoys his incestuous relationship with his father
Viamund The boylove vampyre – written by an outspoken pedophile and pedophile advocate who continues to promote “normalizing” child/adult sex and portraying pedophilia as a sexual orientation in which he believes ought to be treated like a civil rights issue and that pedophilia ought to be completely legal and acceptable.
We were NOT abused! – a book by pedophile and pedophile advocate David Riegel who believes that accusations of rape or molestation are societal taboos that are without merit. He believes that 18 month old babies not only desire and yearn for 50 year old men to have intercourse with them, but depriving toddlers and children of such sexuality is the real abuse and that parents should be held accountable for not allowing their small children to have sex with whatever man wants to sodomize them at any given moment. (Seriously, you can’t make this shit up.)

I mean really, is Amazon.com really that hard up that they need this kind of blood money?

One has to wonder, is it the money or it is a philosophical value system (or lack of one) that drives the exploitation of the the unconscionable for super saver shipping profits?

Amazon.com and their partnership with child molesters and predators needs some serious attention from folks around the world. Moms need to get with the smack-down program and let Amazon know that we won’t tolerate selling out children for a buck. Many children go to Amazon.com, and this is how they repay their patronage? It gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, “corporate rape”.

Please, go to care.com today and start drafting those angry letters. It’s rare that I promote a cause, but this one is just too serious and disturbing to sit back and be complacent about. On the comments section of the above linked web-page are email addresses of the executives and leadership within Amazon.com.

Anybody out there as outraged as I am?

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Allison G_MOD

Wow. Just wow. I knew my Christmas deals were too good to be true.
I will be cancelling my Amazon card and my website account today.
Thanks for sharing this info, Jessica.
May they be sucked under the economic tidal wave that’s crashing on our economy, and never recover!

  • http://www.shoutdaily.com Tricia

I had absolutely no idea, seriously. This pushes just about every hot button I have and I will absolutely check out the research links you provided!

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

I am absolutly FLOORED! I am was such a big fan of Amazon.com. I order stuff from them ALL the time! All I can say is that I’m disgusted! And I WILL be writing a letter to them leting them know.

    Freaks!

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

I just read the reviews left for “Daddy’s Little Boy” & I’m sickened. WTF is wrong with these people? Have they lost their minds?

I’m going to have a hard time writing that letter & maintaining my composure long enough to come off as an articulate & intelligent woman when all I really want to do is blast them with 4 letter words! Seriously….WTF?

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Jessica

Well, the fact that Amazon.com thinks there is nothing wrong with selling books promoting child molestation/rape speaks volumes about them as a company.

They even have a “How to” book about going to the Phillippines and finding tiny, little children to have sex with, where to find them, how to lure them etc. And Amazon calls this free speech??? You aren’t going to convince me that they aren’t aware that pedophilia is illegal.

Seriously, I think the only reason they’re getting away with this is because the general public isn’t aware. Typical suburban moms aren’t exactly searching for these books.

Amazon needs to be held accountable!

  • http://goodgravy.typepad.com Hillary

There was an uproar a few years back about Amazon selling subscriptions to the NAMBLA Bulletin. (Who knew they would have their own magazine?)

I don’t think it’s appropriate for books like these to be sold on a site readily accessible to children. Ick.

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

I have forwarded this article to every single one of my contacts & I wrote a letter of disgust to amazon.com. I’ve implored my contacts to do the same!

I found this website after clicking on care2.com.

    http://absolutezerounited.blogspot.com/search/label/Boycott%20Amazon

They have all the e-mail address to contact amazon.com there.

Thank you so much Jessica for bringing this to our attention!

  • Georgette

I am soooooo done with Amazon.com!!!!…JERKS!!!!!

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com/ momof3_ipmod

This literally makes me want to cry and puke! How can anyone want to buy and read these books? WHY does Amazon sell them on their site? How are we ever going to make this world safe enough for our kids and grandkids if people allow for these kinds of books and dvds to be so easily accessable? I can’t even begin to say how disappointed and sickened I am over this. I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from amazon.com again…EVER!!!

And how those books got so many reviews is beyond me. To know that there are people out there RIGHT NOW reading this crap and begining to enjoy them and to start having their own deranged thoughts on this is scary! I will be writing a VERY STRONG worded letter to amazon! Thanks for doing this blog Jessica! This is one I will surely be telling EVERYONE and their mother about.

  • http://deleted Ephesians 2:10

I am sickened by this. Jessica, thanks for writing about this and thanks momof3 for bringing it to my attention!

I have teenagers at home and they will not be allowed to look at amazon again. And to think I bought all my son’s Christmas presents from them. Disgusting!

  • http://www.her-family-blog.com Cin

    I can’t believe I have just read that…
    1) …An Amazon decision maker supports this literature.
    2) …there are enough people BUYING this trash to make it worth Amazon’s while to take all the criticism.
    3) …there is a man who feels that children long to be molested
    4) …there were people willing to work with said man to write/edit/publish/market this book who either agree with him or JUST AS BAD supported him anyway all for a buck.

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

Oh…you’re just going to LOVE this! This is the responce I got from Amazon.com after writing my letter of disgust.

Hello from Amazon.com Executive Customer Relations. Jeff Bezos received your message and asked that we respond on his behalf.

Thank you for contacting us with your concerns. We understand that you feel very strongly about this issue. Please rest assured Amazon.com does not support or promote hatred or criminal acts; we do support the right of every individual to choose his or her own reading material or entertainment. As a retailer, our goal is to provide customers with the broadest selection possible so they can find, discover, and buy any item they might be seeking. That selection includes some items which many people may find objectionable. Therefore, the items offered on our website represent a wide spectrum of opinions on a variety of topics.

Amazon.com believes it is censorship not to sell certain titles because we believe their message is objectionable. Therefore, we’ll continue to make controversial works available in the United States and everywhere else, except where they’re prohibited by law. We also allow readers, authors, and publishers to express their views freely about these titles and other products we offer on our website.

However, Amazon.com doesn’t endorse opinions expressed by individual authors, musical artists, or filmmakers. We value all feedback from our customers, and I thank you again for taking the time to send us your comments about this issue. Although we won’t be able to comment further on this topic, we hope you’ll allow us to continue to serve you.

    Regards,

    Executive Customer RelationsAmazon.comhttp://www.amazon.com/

  • http://imperfectparent.com Allison G-MOD

Are you kidding me!!!!! Where in the US is it legal for an adult to rape a child? People go to jail for that, hence, it is illeagl! And books that train people to do these illegal acts should be illegal too, IMO.
Geez, it’s against the law to own a book on how to make bombs, but not on how to violate children?!
    Eff Amazon!!!!

  • http://sallinger.spaces.live.com/default.aspx mully

There should be a national outcry from our politicians in Washington about this.

We the people, have the right to decide what is and what isnt considered censorship. This crosses ALL barriers.

I went on Amazon before I commented because I know there are many people who feel that Big Brother is often way too involved in our lives. I read many, and I do mean many, positive comments about the book Daddy’s Little Boy. These people sounded just like you and I. It was what shocked me. I expected people who like this sort of thing to somehow SOUND different than I do. Nope, their comments were worded the same way we word our viewpoints on things.

I am more than ever convinced that we have become so de-sensitized in this country that for many of these people, this book did not seem in the least bit offensive.

It speaks volumes to me that there might even be one person who doesnt see what is wrong in a book such as this one.

What do we expect when, as a nation, we have asked for the past 30 years or more, for God to get out. Leave our schools, leave our government offices, get out of our children’s lives.

We are so mired in political correctness that now its ok for someone to not only write a book such as this, but have it published AND sold on a very popular, international website.

I am fairly certain that when our forefathers drafted the Articles of Independence to include Freedom of Speech, this is not what they had in mind.

I urge everyone to write their Congressman and to keep doing so, no matter how many times you dont get answered or how many times you get rebuffed.

If, as a nation, we remain complacent about something like this, then we are really no better than the people who buy and read this smut.

Remaining silent IS tacit approval of these books and of Amazon.com.

  • http://imperfectparent.com Allison G-MOD

Sorry, my blood is just boiling right now. I’m supposed to be going over the abuse section of my son’s boy scout handbook so he can earn a badge.
How do I tell him that the store I bought his favorite Christmas present at supports doing horrible things to kids? (yes, Amazon assholes, by selling it, you are promoting it!)

    Arrrggggg!

  • http://sallinger.spaces.live.com/default.aspx mully

I have just forwarded Imperfect Parent’s email, which includes this article as a link, to everyone on my email list including the priest at my parish as well as the Archbishop of Cincinnati. If I had the Pope’s email, I would email him too.

This is the sort of grassroots movement everyone needs to take on in order to attempt to have Amazon remove this “literature” (I use the term loosely) from their website.

PLEASE. If you are angry, channel it in the right direction. Enough voices WILL be heard.

  • Paula Brett

we do support the right of every individual to choose his or her own reading material or entertainment.

    Is molesting children entertainment, then?

How come people get arrested for downloading child pornography, paedo films and magazines are illegal but books are OK?

  • Jessica

Stacey, that’s the same form letter they’re sending everyone that’s writing to them about their pedo affiliations.

A boycott alone isn’t going to do it because as you said before, there must be two reasons why they’re so adamant about keeping these books up — either they’re making a nice chunk of change off of pedo poo or they have a personal interest in it. If you read the Amazon editorials, they promote as a fascinating way to look at pedophilia. It’s as though they think that pedophiles are persecuted and ought to have the social stigma taken away because…well…to Mully’s point…that’s just not very nice to pedos, is it?

It’s outrageous! Babies, toddlers and children cannot give consent and as much as Amazon and these pedo partners are pushing such an outlandish agenda. I’m so sure — that children just love to get raped and given the choice, that’s all they could wish for all day long. It’s an EXTREMELY DANGEROUS platform they’re giving them. Their letter implies that that not only do they deserve this platform, but it also excuses their behavior and says to the public, “Pedophilia should be looked at with an enlightened point of view and acceptance.”

This war is not going to be won by a boycott but mass public outcry and public relations. This has to be viral to work. Mully is right, contact your Congressmen, but also, post about this on any forum you frequent. Tell everyone you know. Put up flyers. Whatever. The day that Amazon sells out our children like this and is an accessory on how to rape and molest children, and the public can’t do squat about it, is the day we should abolish all of our laws. If we can’t protect children, then what does that say about us as a society? We are only as decent as how we treat our children.

    I’m so disgusted.

  • Paula Brett

Wouldn’t the newspapers/TV stations be interested in this story? It would be a pretty big splash, surely — and very embarrassing for Amazon.

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

I sent a letter to the Child Advocacy Protection Agency informing them of Amazon.com’s practices.
I also have been thinking about what you said Jessica. You’re right…the public doesn’t know….but perhaps if they did they would be as outraged as we are & then something would be done.
So I sent another letter to Dateline, MSNBC, CNN, & People.

Maybe, just maybe somebody will actually read it instead of just deleting it & something will be done about this!

  • http://imperfectparent.com Allison G-MOD

While I find this despicable and so angry at myself for buying so many things from Amazon. The last place any information about this should be forwarded to is a Priest and a Archbishop. I’m sure many of these books have actually been bought by these same individuals.

Its a very easy site to navigate thru as they only ask the state you live in and your zip code, including the 4 digit extension.

Again. I would urge everyone who considers this a worthwhile cause to write your Congressman. They DO read the letters and emails they receive.

i, as well, am DISGUSTED! i never knew this and wouldn’t be surprised if enough attention was brought to it, especially through media, that something could be done! i will certainly address amazon.com!

i wrote a brief post on my blog about this and supplied the link to here, i don’t have a ton of followers, but anything helps!

    thank you jessica!

  • Lillyann

Thank you Jessica for brining this to our attention.
Thanks Mully for the links…going there right now!

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Jessica

One thing I want to point out, when writing your Congressmen, I don’t think that currently this kind of pedophile promoting material is illegal, unfortunately. That’s what you want to impress upon our Congressmen, that inciting and promoting pedophilia on the Internet, ought to be illegal.

I mean, if there was a book on how to murder your wife, or how to rape women, would that be okay? Is it only because children can’t vote that our government doesn’t take an interest in it?

I think the biggest issue is that Amazon thinks that there is nothing wrong with selling books that promote pedophilia. It’s obviously a core value of theirs and if they truly believe that, then it ought to be public so that the public can decide whether or not they want to support Amazon and their pedo affliations. This ought to be played out in the court of public opinion. If Amazon has the right to sell pedophile promoting material, then the public has a right to know and make their own minds up about Amazon as a company.

How important is it to Amazon to sell pedophile promoting material? How far do they want to take it and stick up for them and their free speech? How much do they want to legitimize this, at what cost? We need to find out. The public has a right to know.

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

I think it’s important for those of us who no longer wish to associate ourselves with Amazon to go on-line and actually cancel our accounts. I went through the process myself last night. It’s 2 really quick e-mails & that way it makes it official rather than just not logging on anymore.
They need to KNOW that people are leaving them because of their disgusting moral values (or lack thereof)….choosing the all mighty dollar over a child’s safety & innocence!

  • http://yahoo CarolAnn

Just when I think the world can’t get any worse it does. I am sick, sick and tired of the do anything for a buck mentality this country is in. I wonder what the AMAZON bigwigs would think or feel if the very books they are selling/promoting gave some pervert in their neighborhood an idea to do something to their child? This is beyond sane comprehension, I can’t even fathom the thought process that someone with children of their own wouldn’t stop and think “hey, maybe this is not something we should be selling/promoting”. Is the almighty dollar more important to them? From reading the above post and the letter sent back we can say YES MONEY IS MORE IMPORTANT TO AMAZON THAN THEIR OWN CHILDREN…this makes me so mad I could scream.
Boycotting will put a dent in their “coffers” and since it’s all about the money the may sense something isn’t right… but also writing to your Congressmen and Senators, newspapers etc. will get the word out that we are sick and tired of this crap AND WE AREN’T GONNA TAKE IT ANYMORE. Tell everyone you know, and thanks Jessica for the heads up about this.

  • http://imperfectparent.com Allison G-MOD

I wonder what the AMAZON bigwigs would think or feel if the very books they are selling/promoting gave some pervert in their neighborhood an idea to do something to their child?

CarolAnn, you hit the nail right on the head! While I would never wish this horrific act to happen to an innocent child, I was thinking the exact same thing, and I do wonder if that would open their eyes to the evil they are promoting…..

  • http://yahoo CarolAnn

AllisonG First let me say I didn’t take your comment to imply that I WOULD wish this on any child (u know how people misconstrue things on blogs) :) I too think it’s not only horrific but beyond human to do these things to anyone much less a child that can’t defend themselves.
It just makes me sick that they would sell this kind of stuff. I pray that they would see this boycott/letters as an indication that we. as parents, want to be a voice for those who can’t speak and you usually have to hit where it hurts…the pocketbook for anyone to notice.
SHOVE,SCRAPE …..putting my soapbox under the bed again. :)

  • http://sallinger.spaces.live.com/default.aspx mully

While I certainly do not condone nor agree with what Amazon is doing by selling books on pedophila, it needs to be pointed out that the company itself, and for that matter, any company which sells ANY literature (if u want to call it that) of questionable morals and ethics isnt necessarily selling them because they believe in it or support it, but rather because they are upholding our Constitution and/or the First Amendment, Freedom of Speech and Freedom of Press.

That said, they walk a very fine line between us and them, so to speak.

This is why letters should be addressed to our politicians. We are dealing with our country’s Constitution which, unfortunately, gives every American citizen the right to write and sell books such as these. So again, while I think Amazon is sleazy and its all about the almighty dollar to them, it IS also about our First Amendment.

Stacey’s point is also a very good one. I have been involved many years as a customer service consultant for several company’s.

The most effective way to complain is NOT to simply stop going or stop using a product. You have to let them know that you are leaving and tell them why. This could be a verbal or a written letter, but simply by not logging onto Amazon, isnt enough.

So please use her advice if you truly do not want to be part of their website. Let them know in an email or a letter why you are leaving and then physically remove yourself as a customer with an account.

  • http://yahoo CarolAnn

Mully I agree with you….we do want to protect our rights granted to us by our Constitution and the 1st Amendment and I TA about the fine line between “us and them” but it just frosts my behind that these people who sell/publish this crap and have kids of their own don’t stop and think about them at all.
I also TA that we need to let Amazon know just why we are boycotting them!

  • http://sallinger.spaces.live.com/default.aspx mully

Completely off this subject but about another subject mentioned. I wanted to point out that all of us should become better consumer advocates for where we spend our money and the products and services we spend it on.

Very often, someone will be unhappy with a product or a service, and they will complain to the high heavens to everyone who has an ear, but they wont complain to the people who should be hearing the complaint. This is often women, because many times women dont know how to complain effectively.

In todays market, every, single red cent you spend as a consumer should get you exactly what you think you are paying for. If it doesnt, not only will you not get any satisfaction by not complaining, but the problem remains a problem. It wont go away simply because you stop using that restaurant, department store, carpet cleaner etc. Often when companies, especially small companies go out of business, they dont always realize that it might have been because they had poor customer service.

The most effective way to complain is to go to the highest person you can, state your name, stay calm, stick to the facts, dont name call and be sure to tell them what you expect to be done to fix the problem. They will ask this if they are good, so be prepared and tell them.

Any company worth its weight will handle a complaint done this way without anger or being snotty and they should be glad to hear that they let a good customer down.

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

Very well said Mully! You’re 100% correct. We bitch & moan all the time, but never to anyone who could possibly do anything to change it.
I need to start taking your advice!

  • luvs2sun

Jessica – Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I had no idea! Who are the publishers? Who is responsible to bringing this garbage to print? I bet Chris Hansen of Dateline on NBC would like to get his hands on this story! I had stopped buying from Amazon a few years ago after I realized that our locally owned bookstore was struggling. It is important for us to keep these mom and pop type shops open, they are no competition for the chain bookstores like Borders and Barnes and Noble and this is just another reason to support your local book carrier!
Also….I will be sending a link to all my contacts in my e-mail address book.
Thanks again Jessica and thank you Stacey for bringing this to my attention!

I also will be emailing everyone I know about this issue. It is absolutely shocking to read about this. I have never used Amazon and certainly never will. I agree with Mully that Amazon needs to know why people are boycotting them and that everyone who finds this disgusting, needs to write or email anyone they can think of to STOP this now.

Thank you Barbara for providing us with these email addresses. Below is the first one I sent. I will send an email to everyone on this list as well as forward these emails to everyone on my contact list. PLEASE, everyone, do the same.

    Dear Mr. Bezos:

It is my intention as well as many other people I am acquainted with, to start a grassroots movement to boycott Amazon.com due to your insistence in carrying material that deals with pedophilia.

You claim the First Amendment. I am fairly certain our forefathers, who drafted the Articles of Independence for our country, did not have books and articles on how to have sex with children, in their minds as part of the First Amendment.

You dont need me to tell you that this is disgusting. But perhaps you DO need me to tell you that you have hit a nerve at the very core of many Americans who are sick to death of sitting back and allowing America to go to hell.

We wont stand for this. Be warned. There is strength in numbers and you can pronounce for evermore that you are honoring the First Amendment when, in fact, you are just as bad, if not worse, than the very scum we are boycotting you for.

I followed this link over from the Color me Gosselin site and also in turned visited Clarissa’s site. I think Katie has some deep pathology and it’s apparently not just limited to her. Something disturbing runs through that family and playing holier then thou is part of it. It’s almost scary to think about the games they must play with each others heads.

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

I must say that I am sadden & disappointed (HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT) with the lack of response on this subject. I have written letters, sent e-mails, told, friends, blogged, posted, & discussed this abomination to everyone I could think of & what I heard in return was deafening silence.

I am sick to death of the topic of Jon & Kate Gosselin & the woman who delivered Octuplets. I hear the phrase “exploiting children” over & over again by people who are “outraged” with the actions of these individuals. I personally don’t see how these children are being “exploited” on this kind of level. Are the Gosselin’s making a huge profit off of the fact that they had multiples. Yes. Do I feel that the children are being abused or neglected? NO! And as far as Ms. Nadia Suleman goes…she hasn’t even taken her babies home yet! What the hell do we know about what kind of parent she is? There are so many conflicting stories out there…who knows the truth yet & how are we to judge what we know nothing of?

What I do know is that there is a MAJOR corporation out there profiting off of literature pertaining to inappropriate sexual acts against children & THAT IS EXPLOITATION! It’s wrong beyond words, it should be illegal & by God it deserves HALF as much attention as the fucking Gosselin’s or the Suleman’s!

I see links going up all over the place…comment here, send an e-mail there, and let these people know what you think….blah, blah, blah.

Meanwhile books like ‘Daddy’s little Boy’ and I quote…..

“This is the story of a libidinous 13 year old boy who ‘pleases’ himself, then teaches his cousin to ‘please’ him. But the boy’s father sees them and finds he is very turned on. At 13, Mason, is beautiful…
Mason finds that love he loves his father, truly, deeply emotionally.”

It receives reviews like… “Truly amazing”, “Guilty pleasure”, Great read”, and the most disgusting one “To Dad’s everywhere: the Gods Bless them!”

Or how about ‘We were NOT abused’? Quick little synopsis….

“This is a battle to the death, for unless these dragons are slain, they will continue to consume our children and those who love and understand those children to a degree that most cannot and will not comprehend. Inquisitive and explorative boys are portrayed as being universally harmed by any sexual contacts with older males, but the truth has been known and documented for decades that the real harm to these boys comes not from their willing sexual experimentations, but from society s “taboos” and inappropriate overreactions of parents, teachers, police, and judges.”

I even found this article specifically mentioning Amazon.com distributing books on pro-pedophilia… http://www.neusysinc.com/columnarchive/colm0194.html

So I have to ask….is it just me? Am I the only one who thinks this is just SOOO wrong on SOOO many levels? Am I over reacting?

How can there be almost 30,000 comments on the Gosselin’s FILLED with people who are so hell bent to stop that show & “protect” those children & only 45 comments on this article? Because it’s my honest opinion that our priorities are REALLY screwed up if we’re giving them so much attention & this so little.

Because the writers of these books and Amazon selling these books are protected by our First Amendment, Stacey. Its pure and simple and no matter how angry you might be or I might be at the response or lack of response received from Amazon, the fact remains, they will continue to sell these books. I received basically the same email you received from them about the same time Wall Street Journal posted an article on their front page citing Amazon’s record year.

I try to choose my battles and this one is one I dont think can be won unless someone with ALOT more clout than you and I get behind it. So far, that hasnt happened.

As far as the octuplet story goes, it is my feeling that unless a huge public outcry is made over what appears to be a gross misuse of a medical practice designed to help people conceive a BABY, then it will continue. This will be using the same First Amendment that protects the scum who write and have published the books that Amazon sells….the right of free speech.

I will use that right to rail against people who play the system for their own benefit no matter how little that appeals to someone else.

What is happening on Amazon.com isnt right, but neither is what seems to be happening in this country with abuse of multiple births.

BTW Stacey…one thing that really concerned me is I have received NO answer from my congressman on this issue.

Maybe theyre just all too busy in Washington these days trying to make the President’s stimulus package work/not work/maybe work/ wont work/who gives a shit to care enough about something as small and insignificant as Amazon.com selling books which encourage child porn/pedophilia.

Well I’m just pissed off about the whole thing Mully! I wrote Dateline…you know…the people who set up the stings to catch pedophiles to “protect children”, and I wrote ABC news…you know…the one where Diane Sawyer is known for her investigative reports, and I wrote Oprah…you know….the woman who is all for child advocacy because she herself was molested by a family member as a small child….you know what I got? That’s right NOTHING!

Chick playing with a half deck cranks out 14 kids under the age of 7, with no job, no husband & has everyone piled in a double wide (I’m exaggerating here for story telling purposes) & she’s got all kinds of media attention…not to say that there doesn’t need to be some laws emplaced preventing that kind of thing from happening again…but what about subjects like this. That’s it? We’re just supposed to sit back & say “well that sucks” & move on? Well you know what? THAT SUCKS!
I just can’t help but think if there were enough people saying something, if the public were to know about this, then something would be done.
Too bad my name isn’t Angelina Jolie!

Neither did I. I can honestly say it is the first & only time I have ever done something like that. But what did I expect? I can’t even get my friends or family to back me on this. I seriously am beginning to think I’ve gone batty.

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Stacey S_MOD

    BTW Mully,

It was nice to see that you did something…I know you didn’t get a responce, but at least you tried.

  • http://sallinger.spaces.live.com/default.aspx mully

You havent gone batty, and the cause is a more than worthy one. I kinda think tho, that there is a general apathy in this country when it comes to something most people is just too big to bother with.

It doesnt make it right however, and when I am confronted with something I can do little about, I choose, in my own small way, to find a way to “stick it to them”.

They probably wont ever notice that I stopped shopping at their store, or buying their particular brand of laundry soap or ordering my CD’s and DVD’s and books from their website and in fact Im pretty sure they DONT and WONT notice, but I get the (albeit small) satisfaction in knowing that I held my ground, stood by my convictions and did what I had to do to get my point across. Even if no one else heard it or noticed it.

There’s a certain amount of pride in being able to stand up and be counted no matter what cause you are fighting for.

p.s. I did get a pitiful response from Amazon quoting the First Amendment, as I expected and politely, basically telling me to go to hell with my threats of boycotting their website. When your company shows an 18% increase in market shares for the last quarter of the year, when most companies were showing a steady decline, I guess you can feel comfortable that Mully’s little email wont hold much water.

We need someone to take control of this and put a stop to all this unpleasantness in literature. I think that there should be mandatory licenses for all creative works to be created by the government in order to ensure that this filth never gets to corrupt minds and twist them into hurting children. Even the Nazis and Communist had the good sense to do this; they were the most evil regimes to ever exist. Isn’t it a very bad sign when we fail to do what even they succeeded at?

  • http://www.imperfectparent.com Jessica

So, Sammy, you’re saying that if Amazon stops selling books that promote and encourage pedophilia, then they’d be just like the Nazi’s? Is that your point?

I’ve decided that every now & again I’m going to post something just to keep this blog from going into the deep, dark, depths of the IP’s closet….I know it’s ugly…but everyone should see it.

FYI there’s a new book which advocates pedophilia coming out on Amazon.com’s website in May 2010 by a man whose pen name is “Carl Toms”. His real name is Thomas O’Carroll he was jailed in Ireland for possessing child porn and he wrote a book called “Michael Jackson’s Dangerous Liasons”. Sickening.
