As somebody who grew up just a few miles from Victoria, B.C., it’s interesting that many (if not most) of the “British” people are actually native, British Columbian born. Many who were born there, and for many generations thereafter, actually have a British accent. It’s really bizarre. My SIL is from there actually, but she has more of the Canadian accent even though she went to a British boarding school in England - go figure.
Did you go to the Empress? I was there for high tea not too long ago, it’s amazing.
Sounds like you guys had a blast. If only one day we can coordinate our 6 degrees of geographic separation, we’ll meet in person one day yet!

My parents stayed at The Empress the last time they were there, so my dad had a lot of memories attached to it.
It is a beautiful place. This trip has been a blast.

We’ve been to Victoria before. I loved the miniature museum. They had a tiny real-working sawmill run by Ken Dolls in flannell shirts.
There was a Seattle area High School marching band there that weekend for Victoria Day performing with bagpipes. We sat on the lawn of the Parliament building all day to listen.
Never went in to the Empress Hotel, but it does look fancy, doesn’t it?
