Kate The Great -vs- Lady Kadi

One recent commenter asked how I would compare myself to Kate Gosslin, the co-star of “Jon And Kate Plus 8″. Not being a personal friend of Kate’s, I wouldn’t know how to make a fully accurate comparison. Having been on television (for a whole 43 minutes,) I can attest to the fact that it is impossible to “know” somebody just by what you see on a television show, even if it is “reality.” I have watched Jon and Kate Plus 8, a few times. I must say that I enjoyed what I saw, purely because I could relate to having a large family of youngsters. I have gotten to know Kate’s television persona a bit and I think that we are alike in many ways, but I see some clear differences, as well. Here is my unprofessional list of Kate/Kadi comparisons, based solely on what I think I know about her (which may be close to nothing at all):
- Kate has 8 kids.
- Kate was pregnant for almost 9 trimesters, approximately 16 months, or less.
- Kate is organized.
- Kate has multiples (which I always prayed against!)
- Kate had to use fertility treatments to conceive.
- Kate has short hair.
- Kate has a husband who adores her and agrees to do crazy things like TV shows, to make her happy.
- Kate has her own TV show, based on her life.
- Kate has someone come over and do her laundry.
- Kate gets paid to do what she does, on a consistent basis.
- Kate seems to love being a television star.
- Kate loves being a mommy.
- Kate is a tad controlling and bossy.
- Kate has a formal education and is a registered nurse.
- Kate gets to take cool vacations with her family.
- Kate’s husband works at home.
- Kate only has two kids in school and six at home still.
- Kate is in her early thirties.
Okay, now here is a list of contrasts or similarities, as they correspond to each of the above:
- Kadi has 7 kids.
- Kadi was pregnant for 21 trimesters and almost 66 months.
- Kadi is only semi organized.
- Kadi does not have multiples.
- Kadi did not use any fertility treatments to conceive.
- Kadi has short hair.
- Kadi has a husband who adores her and agrees to do crazy things like a TV episode, to make her happy.
- Kadi had one television episode, based on her life.
- Kadi has someone to do her laundry…herself.
- Kadi got paid to do the show, but other than that, she doesn’t get a dime.
- Kadi did not love being a television “star”
- Kadi loves being a mommy.
- Kadi is a tad controlling and bossy (okay…a lot bossy.)
- Kadi has one year of college to her credit.
- Kadi gets to take cool vacations in a tent in her backyard, with her family.
- Kadi’s husband does not work at home.
- Kadi has four kids in school and three at home.
- Kadi is a few months away from turning thirty.
As far as who has it harder, there could be arguments for both. I definitely would not have wanted to be her on the delivery table! I do think that she is very brave for putting her life out there for the public to scrutinize. Is it what I would do? No. It is hard to see a woman devoting her life to such a difficult task and keep an optimistic attitude, and not have respect for her, though. The only thing I know for sure about Kate Gosslin and I, is that we would have one heck of a play date!

Grandma from KS, just wondering, I have seen your posts on other sites, you seem to post alot and often, sometimes like here you are more Switzerland and others you are so opposed to any critizism to JK. How many grand kids do you have and how do you find the time to blog so much. To me it would be exhausting let alone having to fiercely be defending her on one blog and midioker on another. Well anyways, did not mean this in a mean way or hope you dont take it in a mean way because it is not meant to be, just seen you post so many times on JK plus 8 and here. well life is calling and must get back to it.

justwondering, not sure why you want to know but I have 14 grand children, my hubby and I live with our dog by our selves as we have for many years,
I do tend to stay on the lighter side of Kate, I do not agree with all she says or does, but it’s not my life or God given right to judge.
I also do not take offence to what you say, it’s your opinion, and oh my lord have we heard “it’s my opinion” a million times.
I was curioys why Deann was asking me personally about the G’s, first of all I don’t think Kadi started this , to turn into a J&K blog, JMO,
She (Kadi Prescott) made a topic I thought was very interesting and Deann wanted to change the whole thing into a different topic, J&K,
Kadi Prescott, Iam sorry for all this drama, not quite sure why Deann wanted to get this crapola started, but she can do it with out me, I love your blogs and will visit another time.

Okay I’ll take that, but what about Swisterland? and what lies did I tell on her or any one? And she said she does not blog any where, so how does she know just how much I post? just curious. It’s the re-mark about “don’t be telling lies on me” that pissed me off, it’s that kinda thing that makes other wonder, But stick around long enough, it will happen to you and then we can ha, ha, at you too.
I would think one would see that Kadi was not doing a blog just on J&K, she was doing a comparrison, Which I think KG has it a whole lot easier than Kadi, and if you want to waste your time defending her or speaking for her(Deann) go back and read her first 2 comments, you can see she was taking this in a whole different direction, but heck we all ought to be used to this, it’s how most blogs run.

Oh boy…there sure is a lot of differing opinions on the Gosslins!! Sorry for the delay in response ot one of the questions here. I have had some unexpected things that are sucking up all of my time
That’s life!
Anyway, our episode of Supernanny re-airs on August 27th, for those of you who asked. Do not watch in hopes of finding some deep connection between Kate and I. We are two (mostly) different women who share some similarities, the main one being the mother of a large family of young kids. My point in writing the post was to give credit to the both of us for taking on a huge (and sometimes thankless) task of raising lots of little ones, while showing that we are still individuals.

You are right about mother hood being a thankless job some times, but I will tell ya, that someday it will pay off big time, Children grow up and remember all the mommiy things that only mommy could do.

I always watch that show!!! I am defintely going to tune in!! How exciting for you. After the show, I am sure we all would love to hear about the filming of the show.
