New column: Long Journey on a Short Bus
Our latest addition to the Imperfect Parent family, Karen Murphy, debuts today with her new column Long Journey on a Short Bus. You might have seen Karen previously bopping around places like Babble and her personal blog, Lion and Magic Boy. She will be writing about her unique experiences raising a special needs child — in her case, a 4-year-old boy with Down syndrome. Her inaugural column is unabashedly honest, and at the same time, in one commenter’s words, “heartbreakingly beautiful.” Go check it out.

I’ve read many articles, musings, etc on this website; however, this article touched my heart as no other.
This brief glimpse into your *mommy heart* is something that I will carry with me for a long, long time.

Karen, One can only imagine the strength it takes to daily take care of a special needs child, You must have a heart as big as the world. God only gives these tasks to the Mommys he knows can handle it. Your story has touched my heart so deeply, and I think you are a very special “MOM”
