my gosh your son sounds like mine - 14 and the hero of twin toddlers .I have been tearing my hair out with him and the infuence he exerts on my babies already.
Three drummers in the house ...
15 is not the end of the tunnel I hate to burst your bubble ...it is the storm !
I so want to hoist him over my lap and whallop him but that's not allowed *sigh* and besides he is bigger than me now.

Oh, wait, I guess we'll have another TWO years of relative calm before the middle one is 13. And I bet she hits the adolescent thing early, so maybe less than that. Aw fuck.

That's funny, because 15 is kind of like the light at the end of the tunnel for me, too. I see these kids at TKD who are 15-17 and they seem to have it together. The 12-14 year-olds all seem like some kinds of goblins. Their ears and noses and limbs grow at weird rates and they kind of stink and their hair and skin is always a mess and they're just perpetually lost looking. I just kept figuring that if we could make it to 15 without having to send him to military school or juvie or a mental institution, then we'd be on our way to sanity ourselves. So, fifteen. Another year and a half of this. And, when he's 15, the middle one will be 11 and the little one will be 6, so we'll have a good four years of relative calm to rally for the next bout of teen hell.

I even find that my boys age difference, 4 1/2 years, presents itself with unique challenges. I would have never thought that they would have played together as much as they do, but the hardest part is having to switch gears on a dime.

I've heard from parents of older teens that the magic age is 15 and that's when a whole new self suffiency emerges, but this was coming from parents of 15 year olds, just wait until those kids get their drivers licenses!
