OMG!!! I forgot that I remember this stuff! Conjunction Junction what’s your function? Or How about Bill sitting there on Capitol Hill? Man that stuff was great!
My Son just watched this with me (he's 15 going on 23) he's still laughing at the clothes the kids were wearing. However he did mention the anti smoking ads that are being aired now. Other than that unless you have penile dysfunction, herpes, acid reflux, overactive bladder syndrome or depression, you're not going to gain much from commercials these days!
That was great though. Thanks for the flashback!
Now I really miss Captain Kangaroo :-(

Oh, and the fat kid. I chuckled at the fat kid. In this day and age, they'd be bombarded with letters about the obesity crisis in our children now and how that fat kid could potentially normalize our view of obesity. The fat kid was even the one in the skit about setting the table, lol. See? Shouldn't they be using a thin role model for things like meals?

But, really, I think it's about the advertisement. Follow the money. If there's no money in it, then it's not worth doing. And watching a bunch of kids fuck up and then assuring them it's OK is not profitable by any means. I remember as an adult, singing that "Whoops I made a mistake, that's all..." when I screwed up at work, along with my fellow co-workers. Maybe the higher ups thought that was bad message.

I think there are two reasons why these old fashion messages aren't aired anymore. First, they would rather replace it with ad revenue and second, some ridulous parent will undoutedly complain about how their child was upset watching those kids cry even though it's a very positive message.
