Twins, twins, and more twins

Posted March 31, 2008 at 9:00 am by Allison J

My father is a twin – and I have always been nervous about having twins. One baby I can handle, but two at once – whew! My husband and I would happily welcome two at once, but I think we’re more of a one-at-a-time kind of couple!

Then the other night, while watching my beloved Discovery Health channel, I caught a show called House of Twins. Without any infertility or hormone treatments, one couple had THREE SETS OF TWINS!!! Three pregnancies — six babies.

Turns out the momma is creating a high level of a follicle-stimulating hormone – meaning she is hormonally wired to have twins.  I think I’ll go in for tests tomorrow…

DH and I always said that we could handle twins, but triplets? We’d have to give one away. Two, I think is manageable, but three is like a litter. Don’t animals let one die if they have more babies than breasts?

One is enough for me! I thought when I first got pregnant, that it was twins. Not sure what I would have done if I had had twins.

I have a 2 month old baby and could not imagine having two right now. Although I guess you’d get double the smiles and hugs, I don’t envy women who have two babies to feed at 3am and then go to work by 7am!
On a side note, Allison is my cousin, and I personally know that she is a very caring and giving young woman who could definitely handle twins (but no pay backs for babysitting~I’ll take one and my sister the other, or wait your sister the other is probably safer !!! Love you and you’re too funny Allie!

As a mommy to nine-month-old twins, I must say that I’m having a blast. Yes, there are two babies to feed, but also two babies to cuddle and play with. And watching them interact is fantastic. I can’t imagine having two children of *different* ages!

I had 4 in 3 years! I had a 3 yr. old, a 1 yr. old and newborn twins! It was crazy, but I loved every minute of it…5 1/2 years later, we are still having fun…They are all best friends! :)
