Jon and Kate Plus 8 - Color Me Gosselin
I used to be a HUGE fan of Jon and Kate + 8 – I don’t have children, so I get a tickle out of watching others who do. I knew Kate was a bit wacky, but I took it in stride. I didn’t have anyone to vent to, so my pent-up frustration went unchecked. I must say, I enjoyed watching the show in ignorant bliss – until I found Jessica’s post on this blog! Now I watch each episode with a critical, and sometimes unfair, eye.
So yesterday’s episode — Color Me Gosselin. Why are you taking your kids to the Crayola Factory if you don’t want them to get dirty, or clean up after them, or use markers??? Kate, the reason your kids are having meltdowns is because you don’t let them do anything. And it’s not just me who feels this way – just ask your husband. He seems to think markers are fine.
While I am on the subject of markers – they are called washable for a reason. Last week I came home to find my precocious pooch with a chewed up purple Crayola marker. There was purple everywhere – on my cream rug, on his white paws, and all over my very expensive, very large tan micro-suede sectional sofa. But here is the real kicker – it washed right out! HA! Who would of thunk washable markers would just wash out!
Kate, you do not need to spend hours treating stains, as you claimed. You just stick the marker-decorated clothing in with the rest of the wash – you know, the stuff other people fold, iron and put away for you.
Your kids are what, three and a half and six (almost seven), right? Let them use a marker! They are freaking out and “melting down” because they are pissed. And the damn blue glue won’t kill them either. Do you really think that Crayola would supply toxic, hazardous and stain-inducing materials for their young patrons to use?
I know I don’t have any children of my own to clean up after, but during the day I am responsible for 20 – 25 youngsters. And it’s just me! No one else there to wipe noses, clean messes, correct papers, or march to lunch, music, gym, or the library.
Here’s my next complaint — stop complaining about taking your kids to public places. As a teacher I can tell you that field trips are much worse! 25 kids and only three adults to corral them. They have to be fed, taken to the bathroom, and shown an educational and enjoyable time – all of which is easier when the adults chill out and let the kids be kids.
So here is my final note on this episode – Jon, step up and put your foot down when it comes to Kate’s obsessive compulsive mandates. And Kate, quit your damn bitching! If you didn’t want to clean up after eight kids, you shouldn’t have had eight kids.

Mully,
Your son’s wedding sounds absolutely beautiful. So glad it all worked out. My son was married 2 years ago at the end of July and it seems like just yesterday.
Your Shannon sounds just like my daughter Chrissy, she doesn’t get off the dance floor….loves to dance!
Another wedding next year? Wow….busy, busy!
Congratulations and looking forward to seeing some pics!

Oh, Mully, what a grand, glorious and sentimental day! I am so happy that the weather cooperated. The traditions of your family sound like so much fun. My family used to do some unusual things that made eyebrows go up and it was always zany. Having the lilies sounded very special. I know everyone is anxiously awaiting the photographs. I am sure that the next wedding will be a “piece of cake”, girl.

Mully, so glad to hear that wedding went well. I was thinking about you on Saturday morning as I watched the sky cloud up.
I am hoping you saved some of the nice weather for me this week. The contractor is at my new house tearing the roof off of the screened porch and replacing it. I close a week from this Friday and am a nervous wreck. It has gone way too smoothly…..spooky!!!!!

I am so happy for you Jeanine!
I think we all know just how much this means to you. That first night in your new home will be so exciting for all of you.
Things are going smoothly because its the right thing and you deserve it.
If I had (another?) glass of champagne, I would toast you and your husband and your new home, but since I dont, I will wish you lots of love, health and happiness inside those 4 walls.

Im on vacation for the rest of this week, so Im hoping that the weather stays this good all week too.

Mully, Thanks so much for the kind words and well wishes. I really enjoyed your blogs about the wedding. It really had me smiling. I was able to picture all the traditions you had at the wedding and am sure they will be found memories for the bride and groom. I come from a small family and after my parents passed away we basically dissolved. Now I just have my husband and two kids. It was nice imaging all the fun you had with your family. I look forward to our Skyline trip!!!!
The house is really a dream for us. We have wanted it for an entire year so it still doesn’t seem real. We are anxiously waiting for closing so we can get in there and paint the kids rooms. I have over a 1/2 acre of land and can’t wait to start planting!!! The whole thing is so exciting. This is the third home we have purchased in our marriage but it is by far the most exciting.

Sure…but if I were you, I’d start stocking up on the Kahlua and vodka right now!
I am so glad everything went swimmingly for you! I checked the weather online in your area a few times throughout the afternoon!
What in the world does Jon know about designing children’s clothing? Does dressing adult mannequins at Gap quality him for a position with a major designer? When he said that he knows the children are marketable (commodities), he wasn’t kidding! When he sat on that interview sofa and said that maybe someone was going to offer him a job, he knew EXACTLY what was going down.
Here it comes — The Gosselin kids modeling clothing, flying all over the country for photo shoots — one-trick ponies performing in miniature Ed Hardy clothing with hearts, dragons and skulls on their chests.
Is there no end to this carnival show? Good grief — the saga is one of perpetual greed. More freebies (and more clothing for the children, now that Gymboree has pulled the plug!). I guess where there’s a will, there’s a way. It’s more than just sad — it’s tragic.

It’s one thing to be betrayed by your husband with a perfect stranger….but to be betrayed by your husband AND a family friend is really just horrible & humiliating…I know this first hand.
Kate is a bitch…we all know this…but nobody deserves this…not even her & I DO feel bad for her.
I wonder if these were the “circumstances that occurred over the weekend” that led her to ultimately file for divorce. Perhaps the cat came out of the bag?

Nope, when it comes to making money, if there’s a way those 2 rats can figure out to exploit their kids, they’ll find it! So now, they’re going to be filming the show, PLUS doing print ads! Lord willing, since this is a new line for Ed Hardy, they will come up w/more age appropriate clothing! I’m sick of ‘em.
Mully, glad everything went off without a hitch! Were the newlyweds going on a honeymoon, or going back to Tucson? Guess you’ll need to get rested up, in time for next yrs. wedding! My middle dtrs. wedding was on Sullivan’s Island, in SC. It was to be out beside the pool, and at the last minute (I mean w/in 10 min. of the ceremony starting), Hurricaine H (can’t remember name) blew in! We moved inside, and all went fine. But boy, did we have some treacherous weather going on outside! AND, we were just across the street from the ocean! Fortunately, no one had to travel to the reception, it was at the home dtr. and hubs had rented for the wedding and reception!

Lynda, Was it Hurricaine Hugo?
Jennie, I love pizzelles. What a good idea to add the annisette.
Mully, I’m so happy to hear that the wedding was a wonderful success. I love the idea of the lilies. Glad that you’re on vacation so that you can finally relax. You deserve it.
Jeanine, Best of luck to you in your new home. Isn’t it exciting?

Summer, Annisette has a licorice taste. I just love it. I have never had it by itself. Stella Doro makes a bisquit(sp?) called Anise bisquits (or something like that). They are very good. It is also good in coffee.

Okay — you all convinced me. I’m going to pick some up tomorrow. I’m not sure that I will know what to do with it (:-)), but since Jennie drinks it in any old port in the storm, I’m sure I will figure it out!
BTW…J&K topic. There is a poster over on the pitying site (which I seldom read, but happened on the “lies” thread) that says she cooked for the Gs, babysat for them, ran the organic catering service, and has horror stories to tell, especially about Kate’s temper outbursts and tirades against the kids. I’m not sure how credible the poster is, and I certainly wouldn’t take it as gospel, but if the allegations turn out to be true and this person is as she claims to be, I would imagine that the attorneys would be coughing up some hush money.

Jon designing childrens clothing. What a farce!!!!!! I just keep shaking my head because everything just seems to fall into these two bumbling idiots laps. Must be nice to take off to France with your new girlfriend and hobnob with the rich and famous.
I know that it is very mean of me to say, but I hope that whatever endeavors Jon and Kate involve themselves with from now on just go bust. I truly hope that each one of them fall flat on their smug little faces.

It’s been said that God takes care of fools and drunks, and in their case, I guess He is working overtime.
While it’s true that everything falls into their laps — money and fame — there’s one thing that they will NEVER have, which is a marriage built of love and respect, as well as the companionship of family and friends.
I just think that Jon should be really careful parading around his new girlfriend. If he’s doing it just to arouse the wrath of Kate, it may backfire on him. She has a criminal record, and if he brings her into that house around the children, Kate and her attorneys are going to have a field day in divorce/custody court.

Was that in ‘99 or 2000? I think they were married either of those yrs! I was pretty sure it started w/an H. It followed us (youngest dtr. and me) all the way up to Richmond from SC, was so glad to get home!

Mully –You are so blessed. Your family sounds great.
Jeanine — Congratulations on the house.
Nicknames for J & K? How about Bonnie & Clyde?
I heard that Jon was in France, but what’s this about designing kids’ clothes? Although, he did a lot of dressing of kids, that’s for sure. He’ll probably design a sack pullover (for ease in dressing the kids as your wife is barking at you) which simply goes over the head and has a short draw-string at the neck.

Summer,
I love Stella Dora. Anisette toast was my favorite. My Aunt showed me as a little girl how to dip it in milk or coffee. I read online the other day where Stella is going out of business. They have been around since 1923. Once in awhile I will come across them at Big Lots and I will buy a ton of them. Just tasting them takes me back.
Mully,
I was so glad it stopped raining on Saturday. When the skies erupted I thought of the wedding. I could not remember the time, so when you said it stopped raining I was so happy.
It sounds like it was just a lovely wedding. Since we live so close I was wondering where it took place. My daughter(unknown) to her will be getting engaged in October and I know she has always wanted an outdoor affair. My only 2 where Benham’s Grove or Polen farm. Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Can’t wait for the pic’s

Christian whats-his-name was quoted as saying that he would like to come out with a children’s line and that Jon was in France to discuss new lnes. I believe that was on Sunday. Yesterday, he “retracted” the statement, saying that there are no plans for Jon to do a children’s line, but since Jon wears Ed Hardy clothing, that he wants to collaborate with him on a “motorcycle” line. Gal-pal wants to design shoes and sandals.
Who the heck knows?

Hi, you know what, after last nites news about Jon in south of France, they both make me sick. He hasn’t worked in 2 years, he should be ashamed of himself. I feel so sorry for the kids, I haven’t seen Mady or Cara smile in months.

Personally if he can find a job that keeps his kids out of the limelight, I am okay with that. Let’s hope that whatever job he finds he can voluntarily quit doing the show at their house and also that he and wife are able to divorce without either of them paying alimony or child support. They both have degrees that would enable them to work and care for financially and otherwise for all the children without the help from the other spouse. In many divorces across the nation this is now the way it is being handled; if spouses are able to make their own money then there may not be any kind of child support or alimony required. Women’s liberation at its finest.
Those kids need to have a normal upbringing or what is left of it.

Are you sure that both Jon and Kate have degrees? It really doesn’t matter anyway. Kate should just go back to nursing and Jon should find a job that he is qualified for. Designing clothing is not something that he is qualified for.
Just because he has become somewhat famous does not mean that he should be taking a job away from someone else who is striving for it.
There are many people out there who have actually studied fashion design and who have a true passion for it. I don’t think all of these lucrative, money making positions should be offered to either one of those two idiots. Plain and simple. BTW, I don’t think Jon really wants to leave the show entirely. If he did, he would. There is still too much money to be made. Neither one of those parents cares about how anything is affecting the kids. They lied right to their faces when they renewed their vows. How much lower can you go?
Lynda, I think Hurricaine Hugo was in 89 or 90.
Stella Doro also makes anisette sponge cookies. They are much softer than the toast type. I also love to dip them in coffee.

Havelotskids, Do they both have degrees? I thought that Katie was an RN with a diploma and Jon had a high school diploma. I had never heard that either of them had a degree. I know that you can go to nursing school or nurse’s training and receive an RN without a degree. And I know many IT people who do not have a degree. It doesn’t even require a high school diploma. So, what si the case with Jon and Katie?

Kate is an RN..matters not whether she obtained it via a diploma school or a university (believe me..I started at diploma level ,,now have a master’s degree in nursing)
nursing as a profession sorta shoots themselves in the foot when statements like “she is a diploma grad,,thus she has no degree”..while theoritically true..if she has an RN license..she is an RN
sorry this “gotta have a college degree or you are a different level of nurse,,etc” creates a lot of friction and misinformation (this is not to say btw that Kate Gosselin is a good role model for MY profession!!)
Jon..I don’t believe he even attended junior college..didn’t he spend a few years roaming around Europe after high school on Daddy’s dime??

Nurserosie, No one implied the above. We were simply stating that we don’t think that either one of them have a degree. I certainly never implied that Kate is not a nurse or a lower level of nurse and neither did nmgrandma. So, what’s you’re problem.
