I guess it's just different approaches. I'm at a point in my life where I'd rather weigh more and use healthy habits--exercise, eat the recommended number of fruits and vegetables, eliminate as many preservatives and chemicals from my food as possible--than be thin. IMO, the long term habits of reading ingredient lists and doing the work of cooking for yourself and exercising are more beneficial than my BMI. But, that's just my approach.

On occcassion I will eat my own food or eat out. I'm very cautious an much more aware of what I'm eating. All pre-packaged foods are full of artificial ingredients. In a perfect world no one would eat pre-packaged food. It has become the norm for most. It's convenient and easy. When I cook for my family I do use many pre-packaged type foods. And then add fresh veggies. That's basically what I'm doing on Jenny. I eat their foods and volumize with fresh veggies and fruit. There is a transisition phase to be completely on my own if I want. But until my lifestyle slows down and I have more then 3 nights a week at home to prepare healthy foods I will continue to rely on Jenny.
Like I said I feel the total Jenny period is a training phase, teaching me portion control. In the mean time I'm learning how to eat healthy and make healthy choices. I can't express the amount of knowledge I have now and expect to continue to learn.
Anyway, I just feel that anyone who is trying to better themselves should not be condemed or criticized. Jenny may not be the path for everyone but for many it is.
Hopefully the Queen will learn how to live healthy and not revert back to the lifestyle that put her in her unhealthy situation she is in now.
It doesn't matter how you lose it, be it Weight Watcher, Jenny, alone, if you don't learn along the way you wont be successful and maintain.

Have you started to eat your own food yet? When I did the program there was no transition, it was just their food and then you were done. And, like I said, their food was just full of artificial ingredients, which I don't think is necessarily healthy.

I think that someone emphasizing healthy weight loss would promote a program that uses natural ingredients and teaches realistic diet skills for the way most of us live. Are you still cooking meals for the rest of your family and then microwaving this for yourself? That's just not real life.

But, I'm really not knocking it. I think that it does work for people whose main goal is quick weight loss. It does work and it works pretty fast. If you just want to get down to a goal number and then figure you can take it from there, and jump back on the program if you gain a few pounds back (which is how they recommended "maintenance" to me), then go for it. But, Queen Latifah is saying that she's doing it for health, and IMO, there are much healthier weight loss methods out there.

Well, I dont share your opinion. Jenny Craig has changed with the times. Yes you do eat their foods which I feel are steps to portion control. Then as you progress you learn how to eat real foods.
I like that the Queen is presenting her journey as a way to become healthy not skinny.
Unfortunately some of us need the extra help to get us on our way. Yep it's the easy way out. No counting, calculating, no planning, no thinking. Just eat what they give you.
I have learned a lot about food and the healthy way to eat. I feel this time on the Jenny food is a training period for the transition to real life. I'm losing...that's my ultimate goal. Yes I want to be healthy but in order to be healthy I have to lose.
They stress exercise and give many ideas on incorporating exercise into your life.
Anyway...don't knock it. Some of us less disciplined overweight people need the help.

So I'm with you, Rita, on the "My Way, My Time" diet plan. I was losing weight for a while there, and after dropping 25-ish pounds, I leveled off and got discouraged, gaining another 6 pounds.
But I was just reading the latest Good Houskeeping magazine (I think, I was at the library and ignoring my kids) and it was about the top 7 "don'ts" to weight loss. And whatdya know, I do ALL 7 (skipping breakfast, same ol' same ol' walking routine, no weight-lifting, etc...)
So I've decided to change my eating habits, do crunches during commercials, etc. You know, baby steps.
Anyway, good luck. And I, too, will NOT be posting any before and afters of myself.
