Oh I don't know, it makes perfect sense to me, but there again we do tend to exist in a bit of a niche market.

Best wishes

Hey, thanks for the heads up you guys! I don't go to yahoo.com so I never would have noticed that. I was a bit disappointed that they showed the dashboard and not the homepage (apparently nobody noticed the phrase "prison bitch" in my list of drafts, lol) but I should have had more faith in the resourcefulness of the internet denizens.

There's a lot more here than just the blog, feel free to look around and make yourself at home!

But now your report is on the home page of yahoo! Your son is a cutie! We thought about getting our 2 year old a digital camera for Christmas, but I think it got bumped off the list in favor of a huge set of nice wooden castle blocks! I look forward to reading your blog, I saw your WP dashboard in the report :)

Yeah...what the hell was with Gavin and his mom, total camera hogs they were! You guys were cute, and Prescott, quite articulate and well informed in the 3 seconds you got to talk!

You'd think I'd have an opinion on this topic, you really would. Someone gave us a V-tech phone for Alex and Liz plays with it now (it went through Katie) and someone gave us a Phonics Bus that somehow got lost or given away after Katie. I don't have a problem with my kids playing with those things as long as they're on someone else's buck, I guess. I'm not buying them for my kids.
I think kids listening to and enjoying music is a good thing.
Well, yeah, I guess I don't really group mp3's with tech toys, but I'm not getting ds one any time soon. I already have to say everything 3 times as it is now, so imagine if he had a set of earphones in all the time. He would too. He loves music. Loves it. He sings all the time. He likes to make up his own songs, which is awesome. When we were in Chicago over t-giving he sat in Starbucks one morning and sang (very loudly) a little ditty about how great Chicago was. "I loooo-ve Chicago! It's the greatest city in the world! Oh, I looooove Chicago. It's fun. They have dinosaurs! And parades. And the Cubs! I looooove Chicago!" The people around us were cracking up. There was also a little dance in his chair that went along with it. I'm not anti-mp3 (I have an ipod), but I think I'll hold off on him getting one for a while.
I'm not happy with tech toys in general though. They're marketing them for babies now! That's crazy. I hate to see little kids (younger than 6 or 7, heck even under 10) walking around with their head stuck in a game instead of interacting with people. That's just me though. I don't look down or judge the parents, I just don't like it.

You're right, both of us combined was more like 11 seconds, but I had to exercise a bit of poetic license for the play on words.

I don't know if I lump ipods and mp3 players into the "tech toy" category like they did in the piece, as the whole thing of "screen time" being harmful doesn't come into play. Yeah, they have tiny screens, but you don't have to stare at it to use it. (Also, the mp3 was mine that I got free with a napster subscription, we just bought him the kid-friendly headphones.) I think kids listening to and enjoying music is a good thing.

D'Oh! I saw the link just after I posted. I'm not even sure it was 15 seconds Scott. You looked good though (you know, from what I could see-at least there was no logo or barcode over your face) and G is a cutie pie. I can't believe he has an MP3 though! I'm sure ds would know immediately how to use one, but I am very anti-tech toys. He's alrady a TV junkie. Do I want him to be a computer junkie too? He is getting that stupid bike that you hook to the TV courtesy of my mom, but at least he'll be getting some exercise, so I'm kind of cool with it.
