I am related to this family, this woman has a seizure disorder and any child would be scared and worried about their mom and climb into the front seat to see if she was ok. He was not physically able to drive the car and as far as these boys being with Grandpa...well, they happen to be his meal ticket and he does not treat them well enough to care for them himself especially when he drinks in front of them everyday and sets up a visit with their mom at HOOTERS of all places...great parenting on his part there. I wish you all knew the "real" truths and facts involved here instead of judging someone on what the media has to say, when are they ever fully truthful? I pray you people don't have to go through legal issues with your own families because until you walk a mile in someone elses shoes, you have no idea what it's really like.

My hometown! This woman is facing serious charges here, in addition to felony DUI, also Felony Child Endangerment. She's looking at some serious prison time, after which she will be under supervision by DFCS, as well as her probation officer.

We are fortunate to live in a county with a very strong, albeit often compassionate judiciary--it's quite likely she will serve some time, be given a portion of her sentence as "suspended", and several years probation.

How serious is this sort of problem? Well, in the late summer of 2006, another mother, with a BAC way off the charts, crashed the family minivan head on into a pickup truck just north of Lafayette, sending her four children to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. All survived, thankfully, but her two youngest, a girl then 5, and her 7-year old son, both face years of corrective orthopedic surgeries, as well as joining their two older sisters in years of cosmetic surgery to repair their faces.

No sympathy from me, for either parent. Every sympathy, and concern for all the kids involved in these two incidents.
