Our family are survivors of a sexual predator, and the one thing these shows need to tell is what happens AFTER the predator is caught. Our case was not even close to the show. Even though we had boxes of evidence it still took us 10 months to put him in jail and then another 8 months to have him convicted and sentenced. Although the crime carried up to 30 years, he got 7 years, and will serve less than five. He will be out on the streets 7/15/2011. What society needs to do; is go to the law makers of their states and demand laws that keep these predators behind bars for the full sentence and NOT go by the "national norm." The victim notification system has been for us worthless. I hear about this man, more from my google alerts than I do the system. It was through the google alerts I set up that I heard Brock Purviance was soliciting our state to have his sentence removed or lowered. He has broken the law while he has been in prison by contacting the victim. Three other victims have come forward through my website since his arrest. Parents need to get mad as hell and say we aren't taking it anymore, and demand the laws change to protect every child under the age of 18. Catching the predator is one thing... keeping them off the street away from children is another story all together.
