Breaking news: Shawn Hornbeck helped to abduct Ben Ownby

Posted January 23, 2007 at 8:18 pm by Jessica

It is now coming out that Shawn Hornbeck may have been the one to push/pull little Ben Ownby into the white truck Devlin was driving, making him an accomplice to the crime (although prosecutors say that charges won’t be pressed).

Man, oh, man, this is one fucked up kid. I’m not saying it’s his fault, but man, he’s got to have some major issues! (Like, duh!)

From KMOV TV:

Law enforcement sources tell News 4 that Hornbeck was forced to help grab Ownby, and even push the boy to the floorboard of the white Nissan truck. We’ve also learned that Ben was held with a gun and duct tape.
Pediatric psychiatrist Dr. Robin Park says that Devlin would have had to desensitize and brainwash the Shawn for months to get him to do something so clearly wrong.
Police speculate that in Devlin’s eyes, Shawn, at age 15, was getting too old.
Devlin may have struck a deal with Shawn to help get a new victim. This did not surprise the expert.
Hornbeck’s family attorney says that Shawn will in no way be prosecuted for his involvement in the crime. The experts feel sympathy for a child who would go to such lengths.

I think there’s going to me a lot more shocking details to come. We don’t even know the half of it.

This should not be surprising to anyone. This is a pattern with these perverts. It just goes to solidify the “Stockholm Syndrome” theory. Devlin had broken down Shawn and rebuilt him up. This is not new. It’s been going on for years, as proven in many past cases with other perverts. The Viet-Kong used these techniques on our soldiers in the POW camps. The Nazi’s used it in WW2. Each entity, (perverts, Viet-Kong, Nazis) has/had their own way of accomplishing the same thing…brainwashing. Plain and simple. Even the articles says, “This did not surprise the expert.” Of course it didn’t because they’ve seen this many times before.

We all have to admit our human curiosity. We also have to admit that The O’Reilly Factor is really overstepped boundaries…..and is continuing to do so, and in such poor taste.

I would urge all of you to restrict you advertisements during The O’Reilly Factor…and any other media outlets that oversteps these type boundaries!

This is America…we do exercise certain freedoms….however We can do this with some respect! Cant we wait to see what comes to light in this case, instead of hounding the family, and experts for answer to questions that will be answered in time.

Could we not advocate and advertise with those outlets that are more responsible about their programming? those that might actually be a step above. If we are going to get political……then lets focus on the “real issues”

Our system…….I would like to see all of you endorse those networks that pose the “real” questions…
maybe we could make a difference

What can we do with our system to stop these types of action from happening. how can we change the system? how can we impose harsher punishments?

Shawn Hornbeck has lost his childhood and probably more! Is it at all understandable that Mike Devlin would be, if convicted back on the streets ever again in his life?

    it happens!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! everyday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

again……if we are going to get political….lets stop picking on the kid…….
I urge you to demand more appropriate programming! Maybe even programming that could make a difference, not just feed our bizarre curiosities!

Thank you very much for your time and consideration

I feel sorry for the kid (Shawn Hornbeck) - he was brainwashed so bad and if he didn’t do what Devlin said he would have been dead. Michael Devlin got sick on the day so his boss could send him home and then he got himself into trouble. He knew what he was up to he planned it for some time and it sickened him. Anytime you see any adult into child pornography watch out. 15-year old Mitchell Hults that saw the white Nissan pickup truck drove away he is an angel. That child should be rewarded over and over. He even goes as far as to say he will keep his eyes always on Ownby. Ownby is blessed. Counselors should de-program Shawn and they will get a lot more out of him. How come those police didn’t take Shawn home a long time ago even though he gave them a wrong age and name? Don’t they have all points bulletin? They are slow!

I find it interesting that all this speculative stuff came out a year ago, and so many believed it, and yet, when we get the real story as it came out in the trials and guilty pleas by Michael Devlin, we find that Shawn was forced into going along for the ride that resulted in the kidnapping of Ben Ownby. “You’re going to be in as much trouble as I am”, Devlin told Shawn on that fateful trip to Beaufort Missouri.

We also know now, after the court cases were finished, that Shawn Hornbeck went to the wall with Devlin, absorbing a ton of abuse, which included three broken ribs, in his drive to protect Ben from even worse abuse than he suffered, and that Shawn probably prevented Devlin from murdering Ben, which is what he told Shawn he was planning to do.

Devlin’s own attorneys publicly stated on KTVI Fox2 in St Louis that they considered Shawn to be the real hero in all of this, that he fell on a sword many times that week, to try and protect the younger, smaller Ben.

It would be good if you had kept your blog up to date on this one, instead of just letting early, and misleading, information just “stand”.
