Just surfed into your blog after reading Alternadad.

Pollack's book was self-indulgent, but I don't know what the point is to the self-satisifed review you cite here. At least Pollack's book was based on personal experience. The review seems a little, ah, received. Whoever Martha Bayne is, she sounds like a first-class jerk and know-it-all. And she's probably not even a parent.

Am I wrong?

pollack's book was awful. He's self centered, ridiculous, dumb and yeah, a poser and a dork. His poor kid is going to feel awful, but look trendy.

"...The difference is they don’t whine and carry on about how difficult it is, because, quite frankly, it isn’t — unless, that is, you are simply a poseur and trying too hard."

Pollack is whining and carrying on not because he's a poseur and not because he's trying too hard. He's whining and carrying on because...he's a writer! That's what he does.
