He is the reason for the season
As we start to enter the holiday season in full force, I want to take today to remember the person truly responsible for all the beautiful decorations, good cheer and presents exchanged at this glorious time of year, the person who…
Oops, I’m sorry, you probably think I’m talking about that guy who was born in September and whose birthday is celebrated on December 25th. No, sorry, being an atheist who participates in Christmas revelry solely for the pure joy of commercialism and twinkling lights, I’m referring to the man behind the myth, the legend, that’s right, please give a warm welcome to SINTERKLAAS AND HIS 6 TO 8 BLACK MEN!

That was pretty good! Well worth watching! LMAO!
A lot of what he said was true but here’s a few things:
* The Black Men are referred to as “Black Peter”. We get the concept of a nice & naughty list from them. St, Nick would reward you for being good, while Black Peter meeted out the punishment.
* We get the concept of “coal in your stocking” because coal would turn anything it touched black. If the coal got on you and you “turned black”, it was to show who was the “Black Peter” i.e bad one.
* The six to eight black men and why they can’t ge the numbers right, is because this was WAY back in the day when the Catholics were trying to convert the known world. The people in the Neterlands worshipped ODIN. Odin always had a flock of crows with him that would peck the “bad guys”, for lack of better term. So the Black Peters around St. Nick were to represent Odin’s flock, and that’s why they had to chatise the “bad guys”.
* St. Nick’s white horse and Santa’s reindeer are reminiscent of Sleipnir, Odin’s legendary white eight-legged war horse. Each custom has al ittle bit of it right, as the Odinists believed Sleipnir could fly.
* We get Santa’s sack of toys from when St. Nick would take the REALLY bad kids to Spain in a sack. From there they were supposed to be sold off as slaves.
And, St. Nickolas was a real guy. Born in 234 AD, he served on the Council of Nicea which determined The Holy Trinity (Father, Son and Holy Ghost). He died in the late 300’s, and was cannonized as a Saint in the early 400’s AD. The only othe rSaint that has been painted more than him is the Holy Mother. He has even been the face on money. He is the parton saint of children, seamen and even Russia, yes the country.
I hope you enjoy the tid bits of information!
