I'm going to have to echo the "This is why I will never belong to a HA." My aunt had troubles over her screen door-- which was EXACTLY THE SAME AS WHEN SHE BOUGHT THE STUPID HOUSE. Apparently the HA president doesn't like her because she's overweight...

Craziness.

I'm stunned! Speechless. Confused by the fact that 'peace' has been confused with anti-Iraqi sentiment. And satan? Get real! I feel badly for the people with the wreath - and for all the people who are so closed minded that they need to complain about the wreath!

Aw c'mon, can't you see the 666 in that peace symbol? Clearly it's the devil speaking through that festive garland. These people obviously don't think the devil is in the details, but he is in the decorations.

I just don't understand people sometimes.

You know, the more I hear about stuff like this, the more I think that people get up in arms about things like this out of sheer boredom. Really. Lookin' for kicks, you know?

Ridiculous, yes - but am I surprised? No.

I could never belong to a Homeowners Association either. No one is going to tell me what I can and cannot do with my own home especially since I'm the one paying the mortgage.

That aside, I'm not surprised that they brought up the Satan thing either. When I was a teenager I had purchased a silver peace sign hanging on a black rope necklace (remember when those were popular in the early nineties?) and my mother told me that I shouldn't wear it because the peace sign is an inverted, broken cross. Yes, she actually said that. And this coming from a woman raised in the 60's. Needless to say, being a teenager, I laughed at her and wore it every chance I got :)
(This was also during that time that I was forced to watch videos about the evils of halloween and heavy metal music with my church youth group.)

Never fear, my mother has mellowed, although she's still a Republican ;)

I find the "symbol of Satan" part even funnier.

As a Libertarian, the thought of an association made up of people with nothing better to do dictating my rights makes my skin crawl. Put up a giant peace sign, a 10 foot illuminated cross, an upside down pentagram, WHO CARES?? What ever happened to the idea of "private property"? Fortunately for most, I'm assuming a majority of homeowners associations aren't this batshit insane.

My guess is that is was more about it being ugly than being offensive. That is the way homeowners associations roll. If you don't want your yard micro-managed by the neighborhood babysitters than I suggest one doesn't move into such a place. Homeowners assoc. can pretty much do whatever they want and I agree, I couldn't live like that, but if I did live in such a place, I sure wouldn't be shocked by such trivial minutia. That's what they live for.

Aren't the architects of this war claiming that we're on a "peace-keeping mission"? So, isn't a peace sign one way to wish success? How can anyone with two brain cells to rub together think that a wish for peace is nothing more than a criticism of the war? Don't we all wish for peace? That makes about as much sense as a woman with breast cancer being afraid to wish for a cancer-free body because it might hurt the feelings of her oncologist. I need a drink.

Shaking my head in bewiderment..an anti war protest? Oh dear, I just remembered I sent out Peace Dove holiday greeting cards...and my husband is in the military....I hope no one assumes that I am withholding my support for our troops and my husband, or that I am staging a one woman protest. Good grief, the hidden meanings...I had no idea the peril I was in when I picked those cards at Target!
